My new pediatrician wants to look DOWN THERE.....

I just went to a new pediatrician. She said she wants to look down there but didn't bc I'm on my period. I am strictly religious and I believe my... YaYa shoulb be left for my hubby! I masturbate, with fingers water and brush. I have also used tampons.

Will she be able to tell if I have? I'm 13. Will think I'm sexually active or that I've been molested or etc?

I'm worried and I'm trying to deny it for my religion!!

She has to look down there, religious or not, don't you want to know if you have cervixal cancer, or something serious? It's her job, she's seen many vaginas, so yours won't be her first. She knows what she is doing, and don't worry, they can't tell at all, the vaginal walls are very stretchy, they stretch to adjust, and then move back into place.

Re: My new pediatrician wants to look DOWN THERE.....

As the wife of a medical student I can tell you that she doesn't HAVE to look at all. If you tell her that you won't allow it, as a doctor, it is her duty to keep your wishes under consideration. When I was going to have my first ultrasound, my doctor had ordered a vaginal ultrasound (even though I explicitly told her that I wouldn't have one, but was fine with an abdominal one) and I told the ultrasound tech that I'd walk out without the ultrasound if it wasn't an abdominal one. At your age, the only thing a doctor is really looking for (take it from my mom who is a doctor) is to see if everything is healthy. Since the risk of cervical cancer is EXTREMELY low for those not having intercourse if they are under 18, and don't have the gene for it, it's extremely unlikely that she would be looking for that. In fact, the way to check for cervical cancer is a skin scrape from the cervix (can we say OWWW!) Many doctors won't even look in the vagina part, which really erks me because they can't really tell much from the labia majora, nor the other extremities. If you don't want her to do it, it can be considered sexual abuse, and you can press charges if you feel it necessary to do so.

I'm just going to have to say--if you're so strictly religious that you're afraid that your pediatrician checking your health might be defiling, why do you masturbate? That's considered a form of premarital sex. Just saying.

But anyway, the point is that your pediatrician is checking to make sure that everything looks healthy. She is supposed to ask you about your sexual habits and whether or not you've been molested, there's really no way to tell just by looking. Since its a pediatrician and not a gynecologist, they're not doing a pelvic exam. Just looking at all the external things, like checking for hernias (when your intestines break through your abdominal wall and start moving where they don't belong) and checking your pulses. Actually, they can do all of those things with your underwear still on. If you're really uncomfortable with it, you can tell your doctor...or better, ask her what she's looking for.
