How do I tell my dad that I might be pregnant? With out him getting too mad. I understand he's not going to be happy about it but I need help me and my boyfriend had talked about sex and we used contraception but my period is late. My boyfriend is aware of this and has said he is going to stand by me no matter what. Just how do I tell my dad?

Well first I would say you should check if you really are pregnant before you tell him. You could just be paranoid for no reason.

Before putting yourself through the trouble, you should go to the pharmacy, or a wal-mart and buy a pregnancy test, and find out for sure whether or not you're pregnant.

Take a pregnancy test first. Your period could be late for other reasons than being pregnant. Could you imagine telling your dad you're pregnant, putting him and yourself through that stress etc. and your not pregnant?

Agree with the other girls. Can't you get a test on your own first? They only cost like $2-$10 at Walmart or CVS I understand.

If you used contraception and there wasn't any obvious problems with it (knowing you forgot to take a pill or an obvious tear in the condom which you would know because there wouldn't be any semen left in the condom when you/he took it off) it's very unlikely that you're pregnant.

Sex can often push your period back a few days. If you're young, often your periods are a little wonky and irregular anyway.

It's better to know if you're actually pregnant FIRST before having to go through the parental freakout. If your boyfriend's Dad knows then can't you get a pregnancy test from him if money is the issue with getting one?

A home pregnancy test is usually accurate about 3 weeks after the sex in question.

Yikes, sorry you're in this situation. Definitely make sure that you're pregnant before you tell your father, or anyone else for that matter. The last thing that you want is for everyone to be panicking, when in all reality you might not be pregnant at all.

If, in fact, you are pregnant, tell him calmly and maturely. Don't cry or make excuses for yourself or anyone else.

Your father loves you, and will stand by you, and help you get through this.
