 So, I used to like this guy a whole lot starting like two years ago and we were really best friends and I totally fell for him until he started acting like a jerk and totally ignoring me. Then, over the span of years he kept calling me up saying he was sorry and then after a day or two he would say it was a total joke. And then basically, kept playing me. Then, the other day he called me up again apologizing for everything and saying he wanted to be serious and stop playing with my heart. 

    Can i trust him? or Do i shoot him down?

I wouldn't trust a guy like that again. But, I would accept his apology, and mean it since it is the only way to move on from him.

Protect yourself, explain to him that his apology means a lot to you, but that you are no longer interested in any romantic involvement. The most important part is that you mean it. You have to let go and admit that he is not the guy that was meant to be trusted with your heart.

Perhaps you can salvage the friendship you two once shared, but only if he takes you seriously and if you mean it. If he has had a change of heart he should be willing to accept your terms, since he is the one that hurt you and if he really repentant he should be willing to accept that he can only be a platonic friend.

Well the past has shown you not to trust him countless times, so no don't trust him.

Honestly I wouldnt trust him, he sounds like a playa  an I wouldn't talk to him
