Depending on what you are being tested for doctors will take blood (usually just a poke on your finger) for HIV testing. They can take urine samples where you just pee in a cup, or do "swab" testing where they will Take a cotton swab to the inside of your mouth, vagina (they use what's called a speculum to see inside and will swab the inside of you, not painful but not exactly comfortable either), or inside of his urethra.
I understand the need for safety, but if you are not sexually active I don't really see the need for an STD check.

I was tested during a gynecological exam.
In the method I did, after the exam, cells are swabbed into a test tube from the vagina using a little stick. They are then sent to a lab for test results and the results are sent via your doctor's office.

It doesn't really make sense for you to go get tested for STDs if you've never had sex.

Thank you all for the responses. I was curious on how that really works and was wanting to know if you needed blood work. The only reason that I thought of getting tested even though we are both virgins is because one of all the stories I heard in school.

Purely out of curiosity--What stories are you talking about?

I am assuming that these stories you heard are about people that are sexually active, which doesn't apply to you anyways.
