Taking a pregnancy test?

I'm on the pill and my boyfriend and I use condoms every time as well. The problem is that I just started taking the pill continuously, so I don't get my period (for health reasons). So it's been about 8 weeks since my last period, and I'm getting paranoid. Even though I'm 99 % sure I'm not pregnant as we had no accidents, If I was pregnant, I'd rather know sooner rather than in a few months when my next period is due.

I'm also on antibiotics which makes me slightly more nervous. So I was thinking about just taking a test as a replacement for having my period. But I've never taken one before and I dont really know how accurate they are or if this is a good plan. What do you think?

You are taking a pill that prevents you from getting a period, so not getting a period is expected. That's not a symptom of pregnancy for you. You're also using two forms of birth cotnrol, which should basically make it impossible for you to be pregnant. HOWEVER, antibiotics reduce the effectivness of your birth control pills for up to an entire cycle...but it's not like you're going unprotected. You ARE using condoms.

If you want to take a pregnancy test to ease your mind, you can go ahead and do so. However, in the absence of any symptoms at all and no reason to suspect that your condoms have failed, it's a little silly. You're just paranoid.

Yup, I'm definitely paranoid. I should clarify that I know that I don't have missed periods, and it's not the no period thing making me think I'm pregnant.

But when I was getting my period every month I liked the reassurance that I wasn't pregnant, that's what I miss. I just wanted to use a pregnancy test as a replacement for that.

I feel paranoid because I realized that if I get pregnant I wouldn't even know it until 3 or 4 months in this way. So maybe my original post should have focused on that - would it be bad to find out late like that?

I wouldn't worry about that, the chances of you going 3-4 months with no symptoms other then a missed period are highly unlikely.
