You just changed your birth control. Any time you do that, even though you haven't changed how you take it, there's a change in its effectiveness. I'm surprised they didn't tell you that.
However, the other thing that can happen is that you don't get a period. When I switched birth control in December, I didn't get a period for 2 months because I switched birth control in the middle of a month (long story, stupid doctor) and then I didn't get one when I was supposed to in January either. Not pregnant, just the change in birth control.
