RE: Our NATION is a lie.

I say the pledge , i pray , i bring my bible to school. and Idc , if they dont like it , they can complain but im not stopping cause someone else disagrees or doesnt believe in The Lord and savior Jesus , or believe that there is even a God at all. If you dont even believe in anything , why you fussing over whether ppl should say it or not , its not gnna change how if you believe or not. Ppl pick on me cause ima christian , but i must remember that Jesus says , were gna be persecuted for his name-sake. So anything having to do what thus said the Lord .. its not gnna be Liked. But not gonna stop me ! YAY ! <3

RE: Our NATION is a lie.

Ok. I mean I really don't care. I'm just really used to seeing X-mas trees for sale and I'm not going to stop and tell everyone there wrong for writing that. Actually that would make sense that X means Christ in some kind of language because no one ever really explained why they do that besides the fact its easier to write.

I have a B.A. in journalism, still deciding if I want a Master's or Doctorate degree.

i think people should be allowed to exibit and practice their religous beliefs in school but not be forced to participate in or say anything that violates them.

RE: Our NATION is a lie.

i had a friend in high school who brought her bible in and prayed before eating lunch every day and yes this was allowed. No one bothered her about it. And this was a public school.

RE: Our NATION is a lie.

Freedom OF religion. NOT Freedom FROM religion. We have the right to practice religion as we please without fear of persecution...debatable. In my local Elementary schools, they are not allowed to talk about Christmas, but they can talk about literally any other religious holiday as they please, but I digress. The point is, of religion, not from. The first amendment prohibits the making of a law respecting the establishment of a religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, (as well as freedom of speech, of the press, to assemble, and to petition.) From would imply that we would live in the absence of religion, which is absolutely contradictory to the intention of the first amendment.

Re: Our NATION is a lie.

Yoga, though coming from Hinduism, is highly secular. Tea, which is highly influenced by Buddhism, but it is served in school. These things can be served/ practiced in schools and offices because their religious origins are not commonly known and their religious ties have been severed. Christianity does influence school and education heavily by the fact that many teachers are Christians and their faiths bleed through to their lessons.

The reason only Christianity is suffering is because there were almost no other religious influences in the creation of the USA, besides Christianity. The only other religious influence that has made any impact is Voodoo and Sanitaria, but they have been almost decimated.

If we were an Islamic nation and had "Under Allah" in our pledge we would be in the same situation as we are now with the "Under God." It actually is completely American to take out  "Under God", because we are a Democracy, that was made for everyone no matter the religion, not a Theocracy. The reason for the separation of Church and State is so we do not become a Theocracy; if the Church and the State were not separated we would be a nation ONLY for Christian which goes against the Democratic ideals of this nation. The only reason we are called a "Christian Nation" is because we were built off of a Puritan society in the 1600s.

I respect your opinion, though, Have a GREAT day! :smileyhappy:

Re: Our NATION is a lie.

Are you really, truly, FORCED to do yoga in school? I bet you if you told your teacher doing yoga offended you because you aren't Hindu, they wouldn't force you to participate. Which is exactly how it should be. Also, doing yoga has many, many proven health benefits and it's an excersise, not only a religious thing.

What particularily bothers me about your post is how you say third-world countries have more devout Christians than America does. Why is that so ludicrous? I think that makes absolutely perfect sense. Those countries also have little to no access to technology and science. God is not a proven thing. Because of our advances in science, a lot of people believe in something when it's been proven, and not before. They live in a very different reality in which having faith someone is watching over you through your struggles would probably really help. And, they also live a life of a much stronger community.. isolating yourself by saying No, I don't believe in God, would really not be worth it. Also.. they didn't just "become" Christian. Missionaries went over to most of those countries and spread the religion.
