My fiance recently said that he would love to see my hair curled, and suggested I do it for our next date/family function/etc. I love to wow my fiance with new hair/makeup/clothes. Problem is, I am CLUELESS with a curling iron. Can someone offer me tips? It always looks ridiculous when I try it. Particularly, the ends will sometimes get kinky from the clamp on the iron.
Here's some facts you may want to know. I have long, one-length, red hair down to the small of my back, and the curling iron I own is a Tigi Bedhead that I believe is 1". I suspect with my hair length I may need a wider barrel. I've tried to look up some directions online but nothing seems to really help.
Thanks!

Try this video tutorial. I suck at doing my own hair but this video was pretty easy.

For one thing, try not using the clamp! It totally changes it! Also use a heat protection spray it does help! Hold the hair on the curler for about ten seconds and hold the curler verticaly. One last tip for ultimate staying time- Use a flexible hairspray and don't spray too much because you don't want crunchy hair! Hope this helps!

Honestly, the best thing you can do is to look up hair curling tutorials on youtube. I usually find the ones that show you how to get Victoria Secret curls and Kim Kardashian curls the best.
However there's a wide range of tutorials available. They're probably more able to show you how to hold the curler, which way to twist, etc.
Here's a few to get you started if you'd like !

For the first two links, the girl also does some really good makeup tutorials, so feel free to check them out too.

If you don't like the way your hair turns out with a curling iron, you could always curl your hair with a straightener. If you don't know how to do that, there are a lot of tutorials on youtube that have clear directions.![]()
