Writing about death

I'm writing a story right now about a girl who dies a sudden, tragic death & how three former friends of hers adapt to her loss (I know this sounds a little cliche, but there's more to my plot. This is just me explaining the skeleton if it, essentially).

I guess I'm fortunate enough to say that I've never experienced the death of a friend. So I can't write from a firsthand-perspective. If you have though, and you are comfortable and willing enough to explain what it was like (how did you find out about their death? what was your initial reaction? how did you cope with it? what was their funeral/memorial like? did you bond with anyone else over the subject of their loss? How did other people treat you?), I'd appreciate it, along with any other advice about how to write about a deceased character.

Thank you!

Hmm.... that is really interesting what you wrote here
