Is Karma just a belief or does it come under a specific religion?

I think Buddhists talk about karma a lot. That might be the origin of the idea.

Karma is an important concept in Eastern religions - like Hinduism and, yes, Buddhism. It is oversimplified to "do good and you get good back" a lot, but should probably be thought of as more an idea of the law of cause and effect - in all spheres of reality, not just the physics part, but also psychological, social, behavioural, etc.

Every action has a reaction. Choose your thoughts, words, and actions carefully - all of them will set other things in motion. The rasher the action, the more unforseeable the consequences are.

Wikipedia is a good place to start for the idea of karma.
