Why bother having morals?

I mean, really gurls, what's the point of them? Why can't everyone just do whatever they want wherever they want? I don't believe in any form of government. Animals live fine without it, so why can't we?

I believe in abortion, gay marriage/polygamy/bestiality/incest/etc, legalized recreational drugs and all that other stuff that gets a loy of publicity. In my opinion, all religion should be destroyed. It's keeping people in bondage and away from happiness.

But I also believe in things that are still pretty taboo. Like kidnapping, pedophilia, murder, and theft. Call me crazy, but I'm being serious here. These people are getting arrested, judged, and scorned upon for just doing what they want and what makes them happy. So what if others are hurt? This is how the animal world works. They do what they want and they don't give two shits about what happens to anyone else. Why can't we do the same?

Because of stupid concepts like "morals" amd "religion". I think we need to get rid of these ideas all together because honestly, they're holding us back. Who else agrees?

You...believe...in kidnapping, pedophilia, murder and theft? How would you feel if someone came to your house in the night and took everything you ever loved? What if all your worldly possessions were gone forever? What if they burned your house to the ground and tortured and murdered your friends and familiy? What if their victim was you instead? What if someone touched you without your consent at any age? And what if no matter how horrified and devastated you were, nobody would care about you? And what if the person or people who committed these atrocities against you got away with it because "this is how the animal world works"? Our morals exist for the ideal propagation of our species, or they wouldn't exist at all. God and religion have nothing to do with that, I agree that it is too strongly emphasized, but the morals are in place to prevent such atrocities as those mentioned above. Happiness is not derived from mindless slaughter and devastation. Imagine being on the recieving end of all of those unspeakable acts, and maybe, just maybe, you'll understand where our morals come from.

Simple: Don't have a family. Anyone that gets in the way of my happiness shouldn't be in my life anyway.

Even if the world's not ready to accept TOTAL anarchy, what about pedophilia/bestiality/incest? I mean, if they love each other just let them do what they want. If two men should be allowed to get married I don't see why a 45 year old man and  a thirteen year old girl can't. I'm saying these things because I find a lot of people's"morals" to be hypocritical.

First off Anarchy isn't a lack of morals Anarchy is just a lack of official government.
Secondly morals don't come from the government or religion. Yes some people base some of their own moral beliefs off of things like that but that isn't why humans have morals.
Thirdly the animal world isn't as vicious or chaotic as you seem to think.

Now that I got those things out of the way I will talk about some of my own beliefs. I hate organized religion with a passion and think people would be better off if they were all gone. I don't care about the government either way I generally think politics and politicians are stupid and don't agree or disagree with most laws etc. I think many things that are currently illegal or things that are being pushed to be made illegal should be legal. Including abortion, marriage between any consenting adults (inclduing incestual and polygamist), use of any drugs, smoking, drinking by 18, prostitution, gambling, owning guns, porn, public nudity, etc. Even with anarchy I would consider things like bestiality, kidnapping, pedophilia, rape, murder, and theft wrong.

See morals actually come from the fact that humans can feel physical pain and experience other mental/emotional pain and then have the knowledge to comprehend and compare what hurts them, that they don't like being hurt, and they don't want to see their friends and family hurt and a majority of the time they don't want to see any other innocent human or even sentient being hurt especially when it is pointless pain. This is the actual grounds a humans sense of morals or what is right and wrong comes from. Even in anarchy murderers, rapists, pedophiles, theives, kidnappers, animal abusers and other people in the general that the human population considers morally wrong would most likely meet swift and harsh punishment or even death.

Also it isn't being hypocritial for someone to be for gay marriage but against child marriages. At 13 years old your body but even more importantly your brain isn't fully developed. Therefore you shouldn't have the ability to make such a life changing decision mostly since the adults in the situation have influence over children if it seems that way or not.

So in my own mind my morals are live and let live. I think the things that I listed or similar in nature should be legal as long as all parties are consenting adults and no one is intentionaly hurt (including other species).

utterobliquity:I mean, really gurls, what's the point of them? Why can't everyone just do whatever they want wherever they want? I don't believe in any form of government. Animals live fine without it, so why can't we?

All complex organisms live within some kind of social structure. From elephants and dolphins to bees and ants. Animals co-operate because co-operation enhances the chances of survival, and humans as a species, like every other animal, need to co-operate to survive. The more complex the social structure, the more complex the 'rules' of the structure need to be in order to maintain it, but the greater the benefit to the species. Humans have a uniquely complex social structure, which confers a massive survival benefit (which other species has the technology to cure disease, heal injuries, mass produce food and safe drinking water, and build shelters with a carefully controlled optimal climate. Not to mention create TVs, computers, aeroplanes and other luxuries to enhance our quality of life... ) but those benefits come at a cost. If we want that sort of quality of life, we need to function as part of a social group. And to do that we need some sort of 'moral' principles defining the limits of our behaviour.

I believe in abortion, gay marriage/polygamy/bestiality/incest/etc, legalized recreational drugs and all that other stuff that gets a loy of publicity. In my opinion, all religion should be destroyed. It's keeping people in bondage and away from happiness.

Define happiness? Everyone finds happiness in their own way and for some people there is more happiness in the sense of spirituality and community they get from religion than in any illegal drug or illicit sex act.

But I also believe in things that are still pretty taboo. Like kidnapping, pedophilia, murder, and theft. Call me crazy, but I'm being serious here. These people are getting arrested, judged, and scorned upon for just doing what they want and what makes them happy. So what if othesrs are hurt?

Firstly, this is a circular argument. Why should kidnappers have a right to be happy when their victims clearly do not? What do you think awarding the right to happiness based to how psychologically disturbed/physically intimidating somebody is will achieve in terms of net human happiness?

Secondly, do you really think most of the people committing crimes like that are doing it because it makes them happy? Do you really think they are happy people and that their state of mind is something the rest of us should aspire to?

This is how the animal world works. They do what they want and they don't give two shits about what happens to anyone else. Why can't we do the same?

Because that's not how the animal world works. It's not how any world works. If nobody followed any code of ethics or had any sense of empathy regarding the suffering of others we'd end up with a brutal free-for-all rather than a functional society. No technologies, no manufacturing, no public services, no trade. Life would be short, your living conditions would be a squalid and you'd spend all your time struggling to find food and watching your back. Like an animal, but worse....

Because of stupid concepts like "morals" amd "religion". I think we need to get rid of these ideas all together because honestly, they're holding us back. Who else agrees?

Probably only clinically recognised psychopaths and teenage anarchists who haven't thought it through.

Wonderful way of putting it.

I mean, really gurls, what's the point of them? Why can't everyone just do whatever they want wherever they want? I don't believe in any form of government. Animals live fine without it, so why can't we?

The point of them is this: as a society, we're connected to each other and such have a degree of social responsibility to one another. What I've earned through hard work is not your to have just because you want it but are too lazy to earn it. My life is mine, and you don't have the right to adversely affect my well-being.

A 13-year old, while biologically capable of having a child, does not have a fully developed brain to make an "adult" enough decision to enter into a relationship with a 45-year old. Animals also don't have mental capability.

Because of stupid concepts like "morals" amd "religion". I think we need to get rid of these ideas all together because honestly, they're holding us back. Who else agrees?

While I agree with Scuzz that organized religion can do as much hard as it does good, you can't just jettison a sense of morals. Do you know who are utterly without a moral conscience? Pychopaths and sociopaths. Society could not function in such a way.

BUT...if you truly want to do without the morals and rules and laws that are forced upon us, then simply walk away. Leave your television, leave your computer, leave your confortable home, set fire to your clothes, and go live out in the wild with the animals. It's hypocritical to not want to abide by society's norms but to reap its benefits.
